OK!! We give in!! Wild Cave Tours are back!!
For some it is the ultimate adventure for others it is the beginning of a new life style. Going deep underground to experience mother nature at her best.
There is nothing like caving in the raw. No lighted trails, no concrete pathways, no chairs to rest in and no man made formations. What's that? Man made formations? Yeap, did you know that many show caves have had formations from other caves installed to enhance your experience. Many of these formations have been imported from other countries. And many show caves have been altered by blasting and reforming for that comfortable forty five minute walking tour.
When you cave with us you get the real deal. You may walk some but I promise you will be down in the mud doing some serious crawling as well. You will see formations made by mother nature with out the interference of man. You will get mud in places you wish you hadn't and you are almost certain to come out a little banged up.
You may call us crazy, you may say we are just not right in the head but please don't call us spelunkers! We are cavers!!
If you are still reading then chances are you may not be right in the head either and you will have a good chance to be included in one of our tours.
One of the things we will tell you many times as you read on is YOU MAY BE INJURED OR DIE DOING THIS!
Caving is generally safe but accidents do happen. Caves are slippery and falls happen! We take all precautions for you safety. We use all the proper gear but caves are dangerous and YOU MAY BE INJURED OR DIE DOING THIS! We are not trying to scare you off but caveins happen, falls happen and even flash floods are possible. We will never take you to a place beyond your capabilities but caving is dangerous and YOU MAY BE INJURED OR DIE DOING THIS!
All you need to bring is clothing for caving and the ride home, any medications you may need and your body. If you have food allergies please let us know, you may need your own snacks. We supply the rest.
A suggested clothing list is:
A good fitting lace up boot, preferably waterproof
Easy fitting pants, under shirt, shirt and jacket.
Wool socks
Clean comfortable clothes for the ride home, don't forget the spare shoes and socks.
Stay away from cotton if possible. Wool and many synthetics keep you warm even when wet. Cotton will suck the warmth from your body when wet.
The clothing you wear will be trashed when you are done. Old clothing is suggested
Medications would include:
Any prescription you may need
Many people experience headaches and fever after caving so you may want to bring something for that.
Some suggested don't brings:
Jewelry, keepsakes, valuables..... Leave these things at home! Cave mud is slippery and can act like butter on that wedding ring.
That fancy waterproof dive watch may survive the moisture but the super fine silt in cave mud will find a way into the crevices and ruin the seals.
Cell phones don't work underground anyway so no need for them.
We provide a disposable camera so why bring that expensive digital.
Absolutely don't bring:
Pets! There will be no one to care for them so please don't bring them. Not to sound like a butthead but if you show up with a pet you will not be caving with us.
Most of our caving trips are two to six hours long. We will be having a meal underground and snacks and coffee. We supply all of the gear, water and food. If you have special needs you will need to prepare for that.
There will be a required one hour class and acceptance of the rules before we go underground and you may back out and get a full refund up to that point. Once the paperwork is signed you are committed.
You must be physically and mentally able to complete the tour to qualify. We only have two and sometimes three guides per group and can not spare anyone to sit with you if you can not make it. There will be bending and crawling. You will have to carry a pack up to thirty pounds.
We will guide you through as safely as possible but remember YOU MAY BE INJURED OR DIE DOING THIS! We can not be held responsible for any accidents that may occur.
